Wedding of Mark & Kara

engagementWelcome to Mark and Kara’s wedding website.

Mark and I have been together since April 2012. In that time we’ve had some highs and some lows, but one thing has always been clear, we are much better together. So on 23 June 2015 Mark finally popped the question, and since then we’ve been busy planning the perfect day to mark the next chapter in our lives.
We will be getting married exactly a year on from our engagement on 23 June 2016, and you will find all of the information our guests need here, plus more.
With so many fantastic people in our lives, and weddings being really expensive, it’s been difficult for use to choose our guest list. For those of you we have been able to invite, myself and Mark along with our parents, hope you can come and celebrate this special day with us. We do understand that a Thursday is not convenient for you all, so if you are unable to join us for any reason, please do let us know as early as possible.

Gifts

The most important part of our day is having you, our guests, there to celebrate with us. Though if you do wish to give us a gift to help us on our way, we have included two options below to help you say congratulations in your own way.
  1. Thomas cook bigA honeymoon contribution would be really kind, so while we are relaxing on the beach we know that it’s truly thanks to you. We’ve already booked our delayed honeymoon through Thomas Cook, and cash or gift cards would help make this trip really special. To buy gift cards either pop in to a Thomas Cook store, or visit: https://www.thomascook.com/gift-cards/

  2. We know that giving money does not suit you all and perhaps you’d like to give us something more personal to make our house a home. If this option suits you best but don’t know what we want we have a John Lewis gift list to help you shop. From 12 May you can either go to a John Lewis store or shop online using gift list number: 650710.

Itinerary for the day

Though our church service and arrival at Torworth Court are confirmed, some of the other times may be subject to change as we confirm our plans. If any times do change we will be updating this page accordingly.

12:20
churchLocation: St. Mary’s Church, Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire (GL12 7LS - closest postal code to church)
Please ensure you arrive at the church no later than 12:20 to allow time for our fabulous Usher to show you to your seats. It may take you a few minutes to walk from your car to the church, so keep this in mind. More details on parking is available in our suitably titled ‘Church & parking’ section.

12:30

Arrival of the Bride and beginning of the church service, it’s too late to back out now!

We expect the service to last around 45 minutes. Once the official part has been completed and you’ve all had a bit of a laugh and a cry, we will be taking group photos with the main wedding party outside of the church. We’d love you to stick around, take your own snaps, and throw some confetti.
It takes 10 – 15 minutes to drive from the Church to the reception venue where the celebrations will continue.

14:00
Location: Tortworth Court Four Pillars Hotel, Tortworth, Wotton-under-Edge, GL12 8HH
Enjoy a welcome drink at Tortworth Court in the hotel grounds or main hotel depending on weather. While you soak in the scenery with a glass of Bucks Fizz, we will be taking the opportunity to get some more photographs, though with all of our guests this time so please don’t go too far.

15:30
Take your seat in the Orangery where our wedding party will entertain you with their speeches before you are served a wonderful three course dinner.
18:00 – 19:00
After dinner we have a small break in the day while the lovely staff at Tortworth get the Orangery ready for the evening. Feel free to use this time to put your feet up in one of the lovely lounges, take a look around the stunning hotel grounds, or check in to your hotel room.

19:00
Get your dancing shoes ready and join us in the Orangery where we will be welcoming our evening guests and really getting this party started!

20:00
No wedding is complete without a first dance, so we will be following in this tradition. We then welcome you to show us your moves on the dance floor, and when you take a break to rest those feet, don’t forget to leave us a note in our post box. For those still a little hungry burgers and hotdogs will be served during the evening.
Midnight
Please make your way to your carriages as the party comes to a close. Unfortunately all good things must come to an end, though we hope you will take plenty of photos and share these with us so the memories can live on.

Church & parking

churchSt. Mary’s Church, Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire (GL12 7LS - closest postal code to church)
A lot of research went into finding the perfect location for all of our wedding celebrations and once we’d settled on an area, St. Marys Church in Wotton-under-Edge was the perfect choice. This beautiful church is where Mark’s grandparents, and parents got married, and we look forward to following in their footsteps.

Parking

The church itself is located around a 5 minute walk from Wotton-under-Edge high street. If you do arrive early, or just want to allow plenty of time, there are some lovely coffee shops which are worth a visit.
The closest parking to the church is located in the housing estate opposite (street name Parklands) where there should be plenty of on-street spaces to accommodate all of our guests. There are also short stay car parks within Wotton-under-Edge, though these are located around a 15 minute walk away from the church.
Though there are a limited number of spaces outside the church itself, we do ask that you leave these clear for the main wedding party.
