WEEKLY ROUNDUP 9 AUGUST 2020
I know I don't normally start with the biggest news, but this is too huge to wait. Chris left the farm. That's right, our one and only Chatty Farmer stepped away from the farm and on more than one occasion too. Not only has Chris been sharing some amazing footage of the canal just a stones throw away from the farm through his Chatty Farmer social media accounts, but he managed a day out too. This time last week Chris and Helie met me and my little family, along with my sister and her family at the Wild Place Project and we had the best day. It wasn't only the first time we'd all been together in the same place this year, but the first day out in a while for a few of us too. Even though we were away from the farm, Chris still managed to find a few chatty animals before an amazing picnic lunch with a few treats for Chris and Helie thanks to the Bumblebees (a few of our farm supporters).
It's not just the Bumblebees supporting the farm, there are some amazing people who've joined us over the last year including a few who've only just found us. We're so thankful for all of the support that Chris has created a Facebook group for all of our super fans. The aim of the group is to give you a behind the scenes view of the farm through photos, videos and maybe even a bit of drone footage. Keep a lookout for the K.C and the Chatty Farmer group on Facebook if you still want a little more farm in your feed.
As I've mentioned before, your support not only keeps the project going, but it inspires us too. I love that your feedback has inspired a few more baby animal rush hours this week while we still have a few little ones able to fit through the door, including our baby bunny. It's amazing to see Caroline being inspired too, not just with her vlogs, but on TikTok as well. The amazing shoes from the Amazon wish list has really given Caroline a new angle for her videos. I don't think I have enough coffee to join in, so I'll leave all the dancing to Caroline for now. Though you never know, Bumblebee might just join in next, she had the most amazing moves on Tuesday, and I thought she was all about meditating. Our animals are always full of surprises.
As we head through August and our geese are past their breeding season, we're less likely to get the surprises of baby animals for now, though it doesn't mean the farm will stop being cute. We still have our baby Indian runner duck called Smile to watch grow, who I think is one of the cutest ducklings we've had. We've brought our goats Margot and Paris back to the front of the farm as we won't be breeding with them for now, but it means we can share a little bit more of their cheekiness with you. Plus we've still got our kittens growing up and making friends across the farm with the other animals.
I'm really hoping to get Teddy the kitten back to the farm to see the rest of the animals soon too. She really loves watching the rush hour live with me on YouTube, as soon as the door opens she's at my phone watching all of the animals rush out of that iconic door. She's so into watching the animals I can't even keep up with the chat, so while the weather's been nice I've been training her on a harness. She's not been to the farm in a while, so for her safety I'll be looking into a more comfortable harness, but I can't wait to see her join her sister Coral and Auntie Bea.
It's not just Teddy who could visit the farm soon, you could too. We're really excited to let you know that we're opening up again for tours on Saturdays. It's going to be amazing to share the farm with some of you in person. You can find more details of the tours on our website, but as a summary, it'll give you the opportunity to meet our animals, help with some of the feeding and step through the rush hour door yourself. The tours must be booked online first, unfortunately we can't accept visitors without a prior arrangement, but it'll be worth the wait.
If you can't join us in person just yet, don't worry, we'll have more tour dates in the future and more content coming your way. We've got lots of ideas for videos across our social media channels including some drone footage, we'll still have the rush hour and even some more lives. In fact Chris will be live tonight at 7pm (GMT) on Dive with Rodney and Del our emus, Smile the duckling and maybe even some prizes, we hope you can join. Plus we are still here to do you shoutouts, whether we post it online, or send you an extra special video, we're looking forward to helping share some more message for you.
So that's almost it for a really hot week at the farm, but I can't finish without another big thank you to everyone keeping us going whether it's with a donation, something from our wish list, or helping to share our farm. You've increased our followers, helped to feed our animals and even made it easier to give Del and Rodney a shower. Casey and I are certainly always amazed by all of the kindness we receive out there and we certainly owe a few thank yous.
Whatever you are doing, have a wonderful week.
Until next time, keep safe.
Kara, Casey and Teddy
